The year of 2020, which is unapologetically bulldozing its way into 2021, has been a year of revealing. What is inside each person has been uncovered, exposing the true contents of each one’s heart. Things that have remained concealed to one degree or another have been opened and revealed sometimes with proper embarrassment, but more often without any remorse whatsoever.
I have been a Christian and part of the evangelical church for over 20 years now. Through the years, I have chosen to overlook many things in the evangelical church in America, but now that I can see things so clearly, I cannot stop my eyes from seeing what plainly lies before me.
I now see entire groups of people who have been hurt by the evangelical church. This is not a demonstration of the love of Christ. Jesus loves, not hurts. He opens the door to all. He does not put stumbling blocks in their paths.
For this reason, I am asking you to allow me to intercede on behalf of American evangelicals, including myself. Please allow me to be a voice that can be heard above the unloving and hurtful voices that have existed for far too long. Please allow me to apologize…
